Introducing ABEM GroundTEM – making TEM more accessible

The ABEM WalkTEM series changed the way we approach TEM (Transient Electromagnetic) surveys – a simpler and quicker route to collecting high quality resistivity data for groundwater and environmental surveys. Now, we’re pushing ease-of-use and affordability to another level with the all-new GroundTEM. The new instruments provide powerful entry-level options to the ABEM line-up of TEM instruments, complementing our existing WalkTEM 2 range perfectly.

The GroundTEM range comprises two instruments, the i5 and i10 with maximum current output of 5A and 10A, respectively. Both models benefit from dual-moment operation, a popular feature of the WalkTEM 2, which automatically uses low and high current pulses in a single measurement cycle to produce seamless high quality data from the near-surface to maximum depth.

The main instrument is a single, compact, IP65 case that weighs just 6kg with the flight-safe Li-ion batteries installed. There is no need for an external battery with this system and everything is controlled by the simple-to-use Android/iOS GroundTEM App*. There is a choice of 20x20m or 40x40m transmitter loops, paired with a flexible 3x3m receiver coil. The whole system comes in a single transport case weighing around 30kg for easy shipping to your project site.

The ABEM GroundTEM is an excellent way to get into TEM, being easy to learn and use whilst offering both unrivalled value for money and impressive functionality. It is also an excellent complement to existing WalkTEM 2 units, when site access demands a quicker or more portable TEM deployment.
